Starting Point Nursery Celebrates Outstanding Ofsted Grade

Starting Point Child Care Centre is delighted to announce it has achieved Ofsted Outstanding status in 2015.

The popular nursery, based at South Cheshire College, achieved the top ‘Outstanding’ grade in all areas that were inspected.

Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills and inspects and regulates services that care for children and young people.

The nursery achieved outstanding status (Grade 1) in the quality and standards of its early years provision, effectiveness of its leadership and management and the quality of teaching, learning and assessment.

Grade 1s were also awarded for personal development, behaviour and welfare and outcomes for children.

The Ofsted report highlighted that teaching is ‘inspirational’ and that the nursery is led by a very strong management team.

It also acknowledged that staff have an excellent knowledge and understanding about how children learn and, along with their inspirational teaching, results in all children making exceptional progress in their learning and development from their starting points.

Julie Jervis, Starting Point Child Care Centre Manager, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have achieved Outstanding status.

“This grade is down to all the staff here who have worked extremely hard to achieve this wonderful grade.

“It has been very much a team effort and we want to ensure that we continue to go from strength-to-strength in the future and build on this excellent inspection.”

Starting Point is based in an impressive purpose built facility at the front of the College’s Crewe campus and features indoor and outdoor play areas, a baby/sensory room with under-floor heating and a fantastic forest area.

The nursery provides funded early education for two, three and four year olds along with private places

It supports disabled children, those with special education and those who speak English as an additional language.

In summary, the Ofsted report also concluded that children’s behaviour is ‘exceptional’ and that ‘children thrive at this welcoming and supportive provision.’

It also recognised the step up from nursery to school, stating that ‘children are extremely well prepared for their eventual move to school by this exceptionally professional team.’

Mark Parsons, Director of Faculty for Arts, Business and Services, said: “This ‘Outstanding’ grade is a fantastic achievement.

“This recognises that Starting Point is an excellent nursery facility at the heart of the Crewe community.”
