Business Stars shine at the 19th Chamber Awards

All that is great and good about the area’s local businesses was celebrated at the South Cheshire Chamber’s Annual Business Awards.

The 19th annual event shone the spotlight on star newcomers to the business community as well as major employers and growing firms which contribute to the economic growth of the area.

Accolades for entrepreneurial talent were presented in ten categories during a glittering Oscars-style ceremony at Crewe Hall on Friday evening.

Welcoming guests Chamber Chairman John Dunning said: “These are exciting times for South Cheshire and hopefully there will be a positive announcement on the  HS2 Hub Station for Crewe to follow on from the recent completion of major infrastructure projects such as the M6 Junction 16 improvements, the  Basford West Spine Road and soon the opening of the Crewe Green Link Road .

“This confirms what the Chamber has always preached - that South Cheshire will be the economic powerhouse that will drive forward the economic growth and prosperity not only of Cheshire East but the Cheshire and Warrington sub-region and will also have major spin-off benefits for our neighbours in Stoke-on Trent and North Staffordshire.”

He added while inward investment was key, the Chamber would continue as a voice for the existing business community. “Whilst a lot of the emphasis is on attracting new inward investment and creating new jobs, the Chamber will not lose sight of the challenges faced by our existing business community. We will therefore continue to press for improvements to local access, traffic congestion, parking, shopping, skills, and help with finance and exporting to name but a few.”

RedShift Radio were comperes during a thrilling evening which drew more than 200 people to the hotel’s Events Centre.
