Hungry Horse Chefs Whet The Appetite For New Winter Menu

Hungry Horse chefs spent a day at South Cheshire College preparing dishes for the chain’s new winter menu.


Chefs from restaurants across the North West attended a full day training session in one of the College’s training kitchens.


The day gave the group an opportunity to prepare main courses and desserts which will be served up when the menu is officially launched on October 6th.


Staff travelled from venues in Merseyside, Lancashire and Cheshire to take part in the training which was delivered by Gordon Cross, Area Chef for the Greene King Hungry Horse brand.


South Cheshire College has developed an excellent relationship with The Hungry Horse and is the venue for chef training days twice a year.


Earlier this year, the College also held an event to recruit new staff for The Four Eagles Hungry Horse in Crewe which opened its doors to the public in April.


The Greene King Hungry Horse brand was established in 1995 and now has 250 sites across the nation.


Ed Aldis, General Manager for the Hungry Horse Cheshire Oaks restaurant, attended the training session.


Ed said: “South Cheshire College is a great place to practice preparing new dishes for menus that we launch at specific times of the year.


“The facilities here are excellent and the staff are helpful and cater for all our training needs.”


South Cheshire College has its own Academy Restaurant and Deli which is open to members of the public and students serve up top quality cuisine at lunchtimes and in the evenings.


Coffee is served every weekday from 10am and lunches are served daily from 12pm-1.30pm.


The facility can also be used for functions during the week and at weekends and is ideal for buffets, parties, annual dinners or conferences.


Sarah Kenrick, Academy Restaurant Manager, said: “We were pleased to host this latest training session for Hungry Horse staff and hope that it has been the perfect training ground for the new winter menu which is being served up shortly.


“We look forward to welcoming the Hungry Horse team for further training days in the future and built on the excellent relationship we have with them.”
