Dad & Daughter Climb Snowdon

There’s very little a dad won’t do for his daughter, and Andy Walchester is no exception; so, when his daughter, Ellie, asked him to climb Snowdon with her, of course, he said yes!

Ellie helps out at Special Olympics Stafford, an organisation which provides sporting opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities. She began her work with them as part of her college course, and enjoyed it so much that she carried on helping with various sporting disciplines from the long jump to the shot putt.

Proud dad, Andy, explained, “Ellie just loves helping out at the Special Olympics, and I think what they do, staffed by volunteers is really humbling. In the last 18 months Ellie herself has been diagnosed with a mild form of Autism, which gives her a real understanding of the people she’s working with”.

“Special Olympics Stafford organised the climb up Snowdon, with leaders, coaches and athletes all making the climb to raise money for Special Olympics Stafford and Ellie asked me to join her; I was delighted to, especially as I work at Stafford Land Rover, part of Swansway Motor Group and they make a donation to every employee who takes part in a fund-raising activity, and that’s helped Ellie massively in reaching her fund-raising goal”, added Andy.

Special Olympics Stafford will be using the money raised to fund their athletes who will be taking part in the National Games in 2021.
