Made Smarter Leadership Programme

Connecting you to digital tools that can transform your everyday business operations.

The Made Smarter Leadership Programme is part of Made Smarter, the UK’s national industrial digitalisation movement to drive productivity and growth of manufacturing industries.

It’s run in partnership with Lancaster University Management School (LUMS), the University of Liverpool, and Manchester Met.

Who is it for?

The Made Smarter Leadership Programme is open to any decision makers, leaders or managers within a North West manufacturing business.

What will you do on the programme?

You’ll explore strategies to support the adoption of hi-tech and digitally-based manufacturing techniques into your own production processes. You’ll look at organisational culture, too. Themes such as, how to engage your employees as you all move through this digital transformation journey.

You’ll experience virtual visits to SME manufacturers around the region who are already on the journey of adopting digital technology. And you’ll take part in facilitated-learning sessions and short-term projects - delivered by Siemens Digital Industries - to test new ideas.

Throughout the programme, you’ll test your digitalisation ideas with your employees and key stakeholders in your business. These special project ‘sprints’ help you to build engagement within your business and break down some of the barriers to adoption.

What can you expect on the programme?

Our group size is typically 20 people. The programme is specifically for manufacturing businesses across the North West, so you'll learn with peers from across the region.

You'll attend online sessions over six months, with one or two workshops per month, plus a learning forum or virtual site visit.

Through the sessions, you’ll:

  • take a strategic view on adopting new digital technology into your production processes
  • gain insights on how digital-ready your business is
  • learn how to measure the true impact of new technology
  • discover the best ways to bring employees and other stakeholders on your digital journey
  • test new ideas in special project ‘sprints’

You’ll also be invited to a graduation session in May 2021, where you’ll be able to showcase your projects to your peers.
