South Cheshire Chamber Portal User Guidelines

South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ltd (SCCCI) believes in dialogue among employees/representatives of the member businesses through the Chamber Portal. We believe the online communication and networking platform can help employees/representatives of the member businesses to both derive and provide important benefits from exchanges of information, perspective, opinion, views, thoughts and ideas.

SCCCI trusts and expects employees/representatives of the member organisation to exercise personal responsibility whenever they participate on the Chamber Portal. The following guidelines are recommended for users of the Chamber Portal.

Know and follow South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Portal Disclaimer.

  • Understand that the employees/representatives of the member organisations are personally responsible for the content on the Chamber Portal published through the company and employee profiles.
  • Be mindful that what you publish on the Chamber Portal is available online for everyone to see (unless the privacy setting of the post has been restricted), and for a long period of time.
  • When posting through the company profile, you must be aware that you are sharing information on behalf of your organisation and must refrain from sharing personal opinions and views unless those views and opinions are representative of your organisation.
  • When sharing personal views through the company profile, identify yourself through name and role at your organisation and use a disclaimer.
  • Respect copyright, fair use and financial disclosure laws. Don’t use logos, images, trademarks and videos unless approved to do so.
  • Don’t provide your or another organisation’s confidential or other proprietary information and never publicly discuss any other sensitive matters.
  • Don’t cite or reference clients, partners or suppliers without their approval. When you do make a reference, link back to the source and don’t publish anything that might allow inferences to be drawn which could embarrass or damage the organisation/individual cited.
  • Respect your audience. Don’t use ethnic slurs, personal insults, obscenity or engage in any conduct that would not be acceptable in a workplace.
  • Show proper consideration for others’ privacy and for topics - such as politics and religion, which may be considered objectionable or inflammatory.
  • Encourage comments and be responsive. More interaction between yourself and other users will help build up your profile and create an active and engaged South Cheshire Chamber member business community.
  • Deal with negative feedback. If users post complaints, follow them up positively and quickly.
  • Don’t pick fights, be the first to correct your own mistakes.
  • Do not use the Chamber Portal for covert marketing or public relations.
  • If you do come across inappropriate and inflammatory material posted anywhere on the Chamber Portal then report it with the Chamber.
  • Try to add value. Provide worthwhile information and perspective.
  • If you have a complaint against any member business or their employee/representative, consider contacting them directly via email/telephone, rather than posting it on the Chamber Portal.
