Willy Russell’s Blood Brothers Makes First Appearance at Crewe Lyceum Theatre

Following sell out international seasons, the smash hit musical Blood Brothers continues its UK tour with the addition of Maureen Nolan to the cast, as it makes its first appearance at the Crewe Lyceum Theatre from Monday 3 – Saturday 8 March.

Hailed as “Exhilarating… one of the best musicals ever written,” by the Sunday Times, the multi-award winning tale of Liverpool life tells the captivating and moving story of twin boys separated at birth, only to be reunited by a twist of fate and a mother’s haunting secret. The memorable score for this legendary musical includes A Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and the emotionally charged hit Tell Me It’s Not True.

Gordon Millar, Theatre Director, said: “Blood Brothers is the type of blockbuster drama that Crewe Lyceum patrons are demanding and it’s an absolute delight to bring it to the Crewe Lyceum for the first time. We’ve seen immense response so far for this emotionally driven show’s only Cheshire date this year and urge audiences to secure their seats and experience this heart-wrenching drama.”

Maureen Nolan plays the role of Mrs Johnstone, a young mother deserted by her husband and left to provide for seven hungry children who must make a desperate decision which leads inexorably to the show’s shattering climax.

Maureen makes a welcome return to Blood Brothers as Mrs Johnstone. Maureen began her career singing with her sisters as a member of one of Europe’s first girl bands, The Nolans. Maureen has played Mrs Johnstone in Blood Brothers in the West End and on tour to critical acclaim. Maureen was the fourth Nolan sister to play the role, a record which earned the sisters entry into the Guinness Book of World Records.

A sensational cast, incredible show stopping music, remarkable staging and five star performances make Blood Brothers an enthralling night of entertainment.

Blood Brothers is on-sale now at the Crewe Lyceum Theatre. Tickets can be purchased online at www.crewelyceum.co.uk or via the Box Office on 01270 368242. Group offers, including for schools studying the play as part of GSCE level subjects, are available.
