Jon Kay, BBC Breakfast presenter and roving reporter, supports local children’s Charity

On 5th June 2019, Jon kay, BBC Breakfast presenter and roving reporter lent his support to local children’s charity, the Wingate Special Children’s Trust in Wrenbury, who were delighted to welcome him as guest speaker at their Charity Luncheon at Crewe Hall.

Approximately seventy guests, enjoyed a magnificent drinks reception in the Long Room, with music provided by luncheon guest and long-time charity supporter, Alison Moss, followed by lunch in the historic drawing room.

The highlight of the afternoon was a very entertaining presentation by Jon Kay, in which he shared highlights from his distinguished career with the BBC, which began in 1993. These included the interview with ‘Brenda from Bristol’ following the announcement of the 2017 Election, with her famous “Not another one” quote and his recent Panorama report about Iraqi ‘orphan’ Amar, who was brought to the UK 30 years ago, with terrible burns, following a napalm attack, only to discover recently that his family were still alive.

Elizabeth Brocklehurst, Marketing & Fundraising Manager for the Centre said,

“Jon has been a fantastic guest speaker and supporter of The Wingate Special Children’s Trust. We really appreciate him giving up his time to attend our charity luncheon.

We’ve had great feedback from our guests and most importantly, it’s proved to be an excellent fundraiser for us -  to continue to support disabled children, whether they join us for a residential short break or to take part in sport and recreational activities in our gymnasium we need to raise approximately £100,000 per year and events like our charity luncheon make a really valuable contribution to achieving this figure.”
