Cheshire campus rated highly in Guardian University Guide

Departments at Manchester Met's Cheshire campus in Crewe have achieved huge rises in this year's Guardian University Guide.

Exercise and Sport Science has risen 34 places, from 52nd in 2016 to 18th this year - the largest rise of any subject in the University.

Psychology has also risen hugely - going up 30 places from 75th in 2016 to number 45 this year.

Music has also been successful, having risen 13 places from 41 to 28.

The University as a whole has risen 17 places in the Guardian's league table of UK universities, climbing from 77th place to 60th in the 2017 rankings.

The rise follows success earlier this year in the Complete University Guide rankings where the University recorded the largest rise of any UK university.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Malcolm Press said: "Higher education is a transformative opportunity for young people. At Manchester Metropolitan University, we are driven by ambition for our students. We offer them innovative and flexible degree programmes, including degree apprenticeships, that will enable their success in a fast-paced and ever-changing world. The Guardian University League Table places particular emphasis on the quality of the student experience, so rising so many places is a particularly gratifying endorsement of our approach."
