Creative Students Make A Stand At Blackberry Fair

Eye-catching products designed by creative college students were the talk of the town at a popular country fair.

South Cheshire College Art and Graphic Design students captured the imagination of hundreds of visitors at the Blackberry Fair, Whitchurch by selling a range of hand-made items.

Thousands of customers flocked to the eighth annual event on Saturday 3rd October and were intrigued by what students were selling on their stand in the ‘craft village.’

Goods made and sold by Level 3 students included vintage-style gifts such as bags, postcards and greeting cards, created using different design skills such as painting, computer graphics and photography.

Each learner aimed to secure a good profit, which can be ploughed back into future college projects.

Performing Arts and Music students also added to the occasion by performing a series of live dance routines, music sets and a rock gig.

Phil Farrington, Assistant Director for Performing Arts, Visual Arts and Media at South Cheshire College, said: “Students across the department worked really hard in the run-up to the event and were able to showcase their skills to a live audience in the wider community.

“There was a fantastic response from the public who attended the fair and many commented on how professional the designs were and enjoyed the dance and music performances as well.”
