Alex Conquers 3 Peaks for Bryony

Alex Whitlock, Used Car Sales Manager at Stoke Audi, part of Swansway Motor Group, has conquered the 3 Peaks Challenge.

When Alex decided he wanted raise money for the Forget-me-Not Ward at Royal Stoke University Hospital, he roped in his friends from Central Staffs Crossfit and decided to go for a real challenge, conquering the 3 Peaks Challenge in 24 hours; that’s climbing Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis, and all the travelling in-between in 24 hours or less.

Alex explains, “I had the best, and the worst, reason to want to raise money for the Forget-me-Not Ward; our beautiful baby girl, Bryony who was born sleeping in August 2018”.

“It wasn’t expected and was a total shock for the whole family, if it weren’t for the quiet care and compassion from the Forget-me-Not nurses, I don’t know how we’d have coped. This special ward and these very special people meant that we had priceless time together as a family, something we will never forget”.

“When something like this happens, you start to find out that it happens to many more families than you realise; 9 babies a day, which is around 1 in 200 are born sleeping and so, it seemed right to give something back”, added Alex.

Alex and his team trained for 4 months before taking on the challenge and although three of them didn’t make it to the end of the 24-hour challenge, Alex did complete it in 23 hours and 33 minutes!

Thank you to Alex for sharing something so close to his heart and congratulations for raising almost £2,500 so far. If you want to support Alex and the Forget-me-Not Ward you can do so here.
