Help Elsie’s Moon Shine More Brightly

When something heart-breaking happens in life, you can use it to help others.

Swansway Motor Group donates £100 to all employees fund-raising activities, but this donation was very personal and we thought we’d share it with you as this affects so many families and isn’t spoken about enough.

Quite naturally, losing a baby is something parents don’t want to think about, but it happens and much more often than you’d think. It happened to Lindsey and Chris Paggett, their much-loved and longed for baby, Elsie, was born at 39 weeks, but sadly, though she fought really hard, she was only able to stay with her Mummy and Daddy for a very short time.

Paul Devlin, Business Manager at Crewe Audi, is Lindsey’s dad, “I don’t usually speak about this; my wife and I are very private people, but we want to support Lindsey and Chris who were so brave. They took their heart-break and turned into a force for good, establishing the Elsie’s Moon charity, in memory of our very much-loved Elsie”.

Lindsey explained, “After our beautiful daughter Elsie passed away, we wanted to continue the support for families when pregnancy doesn't follow the plan. In the worst time of our lives, we received the most amazing care and were given so much love from some very special people and charities. We chose to setup Elsie's Moon to help continue this support, in memory of our daughter, so her name will never be forgotten”.

Their latest fund-raising event took place on the Wirral at the Marine Point Marino Lounge and saw lots of local people and businesses join in making cakes for a mammoth cake sale and then join in a fun-filled Tapas evening, raising almost £1,000 for Elsie’s Moon.

There was also a music quiz which Lindsey had tried to give her Mum and Dad a chance of winning by weighting the questions towards 80s pop! Even that didn’t help as Paul and his wife were on one of the losing teams!

You can support Elsie’s Moon here; and we’d like to thank Paul for sharing his family’s story with us.
