Sprinkler demonstration - Live burn demo

Cheshire Fire highlights the benefits of sprinklers in live demonstration and an open floor for questions on fire safety

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS) is launching a 12 month sprinkler campaign to promote and highlight the positives of installing sprinklers to protect people and properties. Following the devastating effects of Grenfell and the continued work they carryout to promote sprinklers, CFRS are will be staging three designated sprinkler events which will include a live demonstration on 2 bedrooms, one set up with sprinklers the other not.  You will have the opportunity to see the devastating effects and destruction fire can have in less than four minutes and how sprinklers react to the first signs of smoke as a video of the last demonstration will be shown during the final Friday event.  The first demonstration took place in June and a video of this will be shown to attendees.

The demonstration featured two almost identically furnished ‘rooms’ being set alight. There was only one difference – one of the rooms was fitted with a sprinkler system, the other wasn’t.  The audience watched as the blazes began to take hold and were amazed at the final outcomes after the sprinkler system activated in one of the rooms. There was very little fire or water damage. Conversely the second room was completely burnt out and would have required extensive rebuilding to make it habitable once again.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions relating to sprinklers or any fire safety issues/concerns you may have relating to your business.  It should be note that fitting sprinkler systems in businesses can not only help save lives but are integral for business continuity.  Are you confident your business would survive a fire, 80% don’t ever recover or trade again!

Two further sprinkler demonstrations have been arranged at Sadler Road, Winsford. These events are free to attend and will provide valuable information covering the myths and benefits of sprinklers.
