South Cheshire Chambers Business Awards 2017

The search to find the most successful businesses in the area is now on!


South Cheshire Chamber is proud to announce that it is now accepting entries for the 2017 Business Awards, which are free to enter.


Businesses of all sizes are invited to enter – from start-ups and sole traders to large employers, importers and exporters. Also, there are special awards for those which make a positive contribution to the community or go the extra mile to ensure the health and wellbeing of employees.


 


Firms can also recognize the achievement of individual employees with the ‘Young Leader of the Future’ award and ‘Apprentice of the Year’.


 


Paul Colman, Chamber Chief Executive: “We urge businesses trading in South Cheshire to celebrate their success through entering the Awards and enjoy the prestige and publicity involved with taking part. There is also an opportunity to nominate and give recognition to a client or supplier.”


 


Award categories this year are as followed-


 


Ambassador of the Year- Sponsored by Cheshire & Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership


The judges will be looking for a business that can demonstrate expertise and leadership in its field on a regional, national and / or international arena. This award will showcase local excellence and recognise the high quality of South Cheshire businesses that impact far beyond the local area.

Apprentice of the Year- Sponsored by Bentley Motors Ltd


This award is to an apprentice who has shown outstanding progress and commitment to their own personal development and their progression on a recognised learning scheme.


• The apprentice must have been employed by their current employer for a minimum of 6 months before the closing date (6th October 2017)
• The apprentice must be on, or have finished in the last 6 months, a recognised training scheme supported by their employer

Contribution to the Community- Sponsored by South Cheshire College & Cheshire Connect


This award is open to a commercial business that has made a positive, measurable and outstanding contribution to a local charity or not for profit organisation based in the Crewe and Nantwich area.


The judges will be looking for a business that by using their influence, innovation and passion has brought about lasting sustainable change that is making a difference within one or more of the following categories:


• Skills Exchange – sharing expertise, knowledge, methodologies, advice and guidance
• Philanthropy – providing important financial assistance
• Partnerships – delivering vital support programmes and services
• Corporate volunteering – supporting employees to participate in volunteering and / or fundraising activities and events

Business of the Year (Under 25) - Sponsored by Hibberts LLP


This award is open to businesses with less than 25 employees (or full time equivalent).


Businesses entering this category must have been trading for more than 2 years at the closing date for entries (6th October 2017)

Business of the Year (25+) - Sponsored by Royal Bank of Scotland


This award is open to Businesses with 25 or more employees (or full time equivalent) or, businesses with a turnover to a maximum of 25 million


Businesses entering this category must have been trading for over 2 years at the closing date for entry (6th October 2017)


The judges will be looking for evidence of business success and a strong track record of trading

Employer of the Year- Assurant Solutions


This category is open to any business that can demonstrate commercial success and strategies for growth whilst achieving excellence in its commitment to the support and development of its workforce.


The judges will be looking for evidence of initiatives and polices which assess, deliver and monitor their workforce’s training and development, health and safety, general wellbeing and where there is an innovative approach to working terms and conditions.

Excellence in Customer Service- Sponsored by Jones Sheridan


This award is open to businesses that consistently deliver outstanding Customer Service and can demonstrate that meeting the customer’s needs is a priority throughout its entire business.

Healthy Workplace and Wellbeing Award- Sponsored by ctchealthcare and Everybody Sport and Recreation


The judges of this category are looking for a business that can demonstrate it actively works to positively influence the wellbeing of its staff.


In additional to ensuring employee legal rights and responsibilities are met, entrants must be able to demonstrate that their business provides support to employees who may be suffering from physical or mental illness to enable them to return to work

International Trader of the Year- Sponsored by Manchester Metropolitan University


The judges of this category are looking for a business that has proven success and active involvement in International Trade. The business may be any size however must trade from a location within the Crewe and Nantwich Borough or be a member of South Cheshire Chamber.

This Award is open to Businesses that have been trading for 2 years or under at the closing date for entry (6th October 2017)

Young Leader of the Future- Sponsored by KPI Recruiting Ltd


The judges of this category are looking for an individual aged 26 or under who has demonstrated leadership qualities and a proven contribution to business.


Individuals may run their own business or be employed in the public, private or third sector.

Nominations from this award will be accepted from self -employed individuals or from a manager for employed individuals.

Deadline for entries is Friday 6th October at 4:30pm and finalists will be announced Tuesday 17th October, with the winners announced at the prestigious black tie awards dinner on Friday 24 November at Crewe Hall Hotel.


 


Due to popular demand, the Chamber is holding workshops supported by Chamber member, Fiona-Rose Marketing to offer advice and guidance to businesses looking to enter the awards. The workshops will be the Chamber’s office on the MMU campus Crewe on July 26 and August 8.
