INTRODUCTION TO 3D CAD & 3D PRINTING - 1 DAY COURSE


Computer Aided Design is playing a significant part in the world of Engineering enabling engineers to quickly develop and communicate their ideas. Computers have traditionally provided 2D visualisation of mechanical parts and products but with innovations in technology it is now possible for design concepts to be modelled in the third dimension.


Complex models that have been developed with mathematical precision can then be printed using 3D printers, speeding up the process of prototyping. Continual advancement in 3D printing has resulted in a steady reduction in the cost of a 3D printer and the process of 3D modelling has become an affordable option for SME engineering and manufacturing companies.


About the course:


This course will introduce you to 3D computer aided design software namely Autodesk Inventor, at the same time providing an overview of rapid prototyping.


Using a XYZ Printing 3F20AXEU00D da Vinci 2.0A 3D Printer, you will gain an understanding of the design, functioning and operation of a basic 3D Printer.


We will cover how to:


  • Develop basic 3D models using an industry standard CAD package (Autodesk Inventor)
  • Export the model as a stereolithography file
  • Import it into 3D printing software and scale id down to produce a 3D model.

There will be an overview and demonstration of a 3D printer producing a 3D model.


All attendees are required to book a place on the course using Eventbrite.


ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: This event is Free but places are strictly limited and eligibility applies. Your business/employer must be an SME with a head office based in Cheshire and Warrington LEP area. ESF SME definition and De Minimis Aid Rules apply.
