Guest speakers:

Dr. Paul McKenna, from the Enterprise and Business Partnerships team at Lancaster University. He will discuss innovation partnerships, which can offer your business access to world-leading research, as well as providing experts and resources to work exclusively with your business to help you innovate and gain a competitive advantage.

Charles Jacobson, from the Department for International Tradewho will explain the TR&DE2 programme. The programme offers support to businesses looking to increase their growth potential through export sales. TR&DE2 provides intensive support and free masterclasses to drive the strategy, execution and delivery of your R&D projects, including insight into target markets, strategic advice on routes to market and help to connect to international markets.

Ian Rowland, Head of the Innovation Group at
Grant Thornton, will explain how your business can access approved government tax incentives for innovation. These tax incentives include: R&D tax relief, R&D allowances and reduced tax rate on profits from patents. All of these can provide a significant source of additional cash funding to businesses, making cash stretch further and producing a significant source of additional funding to businesses.

Jack Stevenson-Hill, patent attorney at Marks & Clerk will discuss the commercial aspects of intellectual property (IP) including how to protect your business and innovative ideas using IP. As well as how to commercially exploit your innovations - providing insight and practical tips to help businesses avoid common pitfalls.
