Company Profile
Nantwich Museum is an independent charitable trust that has now been running for over 30 years. Nantwich Museum exists to tell the story of Nantwich’s rich history by collecting, safeguarding and making accessible local artefacts which it holds in trust for society, and to provide a centre for the inspiration, learning and enjoyment of all.

The Museum is an accredited museum and relies on grants and the support of its members and volunteers to ensure its continued operation. Approximately 50 volunteers help the Museum in some way, ranging from welcoming visitors on the reception desk to carrying out research. The Museum offers services including education workshops and room hire and takes part in town events such as Holly Holy Day and the Food Festival.

The Museum finds itself in a period of great change. Within the last year the Museum has gained reaccreditation, has been suppported by HLF for an exhibition and has secured grants to develop the shop and a new website. However, due to uncertainty surrounding funding, we are continually looking at ways in which to become more sustainable so that the town's people and visitors to Nantwich can enjoy the Museum and be inspired by the history and heritage of of the town into the future.
What We Do
The Museum provides free addmission to its permanent and temporary exhibitions. We have a programme of changing exhibitions in our Millennium and Community Galleries, which includes artists, community groups, history displays and the work of local children. We also display work in our upstairs room.

We have an education service which is available to children from reception age all the way to college. Topics delivered include the Tudors, Fire of Nantwich, Victorians, WW2, local study and toys. We also tailor sessions to more specific needs of teachers. We also offer guided tours and talks about the history of the town, as well as outreach sessions. During the school holidays we provide workshops.

We try to get involved in as many events taking place in the town as possible including Holly Holy Day, the Arts Festival and the Jazz and Blues Festival.

We have a good relationship with St Mary's Church and other organisations within the town such as the Children's Centre and Library and are always enthusiastic to develop working relationships within the community.
